In this mini tapestry workshop using a high-loom, we will focus on creativity and the combination of textures and colors. An experience designed to discover the world of artisanal weaving using a small, manual loom. An ideal introduction to this technique in a simple, mindful, and environmentally conscious way.

Workshop development

1. Introduction to materials and tools – We will explore local materials: locally sourced wool, transhumance fibres, and other organic materials and textures suitable for weaving, as well as different types of looms and essential tools.

2. Warp setup – We will learn how to correctly arrange the threads on the loom.

3. Chain stitch or cord edging – A securing technique applied at the beginning and end of the weave to provide stability, prevent unraveling, and give a neat finish.

4. Weaving the weft – We will practice basic weaving techniques such as plain weave, rya knots, and soumak to build the tapestry, adding texture and color.

5. Removing the piece from the loom and final knotting – We will knot the ends to give stability and shape to the piece, making it durable and functional.

6. Finishing and collection of the piece – Each participant will take home the mini tapestry they have crafted with their own hands.

No prior experience is required—just a desire to learn and enjoy a creative and relaxing experience.
