Workshop development
-
Introduction to materials and tools – We will explore locally sourced, undyed combed wool and other possible fibres such as mohair, raffia, linen, etc., as well as different types of looms and essential tools.
-
Warp setup – We will learn how to correctly arrange the threads on the loom.
-
Chain stitch or cord edging – A securing technique applied at the beginning and end of a weave to give stability, prevent unraveling, and provide a neat finishing edge.
-
Weaving the weft – We will apply the basic plain weave technique to build the coaster using easy-to-handle combed wool.
-
Removing the piece from the loom and final knotting – We will knot the ends to give the piece stability and shape, making it durable and functional.
-
Finishing and collection of the piece – Each participant will take home the bowl coaster they have crafted with their own hands.
No prior experience is required—just the desire to learn and enjoy a creative and relaxing experience.
