Eight producers from the Strategic Plan area awarded the Girona Excel·lent agri-food quality seal.
Eight producers from the Strategic Territorial Development Plan area —which includes the municipalities of la Bisbal d’Empordà, Forallac, Corçà, Cruïlles, Monells i Sant Sadurní de l’Heura, and Ullastret— have been awarded the prestigious Girona Excel·lent agri-food quality seal in its sixth edition.
This year’s edition reached record numbers: 137 awarded products from 83 companies across Girona’s counties, selected from a total of 540 submissions — the highest participation since the seal was launched in 2014. These figures consolidate Girona Excel·lent as a key benchmark in recognizing the agri-food quality of the region.
The awarded producers from the Strategic Plan area are:
-
Sa Tuna Gin – White spirit
-
Tegust – 100% lemon verbena infusion and herbal tea
-
Emporarom – Aromatic herbs for seasoning
-
Sofregit Quim Matas – Macaroni sauce
-
Recuits de Fonteta – Traditional “recuit de drap” (cloth-drained curd)
-
Granja Mas Casas – Fresh sheep milk
-
Mas Fuertes – Wildflower honey
-
Casa Negre – Unique specialty (non-alcoholic local drinks)
The products were selected through blind tastings conducted by a jury of 40 experts in the agri-food, gastronomy, and hospitality sectors, who evaluated criteria such as appearance, taste, aroma, texture, and connection to the territory.
Award-winning products can use the Girona Excel·lent seal for the next two years and will benefit from promotional programs, participation in specialized trade fairs —both national and international— and business support and training initiatives.
This recognition highlights the richness and quality of the local agri-food fabric, made up of small producers committed to tradition, sustainability, and innovation.
It also strengthens the "Promotion of agri-food production" axis of the ongoing strategic plan, with concrete actions in promotion, training, and business support aimed at increasing the visibility and value of local products. One of the most significant actions under this axis was the creation, last year, of the Origen Empordanet brand, which unites and promotes agri-food producers and processors from the five municipalities covered by the plan.
Congratulations to all the passionate producers from this region!
