In 2017, filming in our territory doubled

22/01/2018

The municipalities of Bisbal d'Empordà, Forallac, Cruïlles, Monells and Sant Sadurní de l'Heura, Corçà and Ullastret are working together to attract filming in the territory within the framework of the Strategic Plan for local economic development and employment. Over the course of 2017, these five municipalities served as locations for eleven filming locations for film productions, series and programs for television or commercials. These are the official data that have been sent to the Catalonia Film Commission, which centralizes the data for Catalonia as a whole, but it is not ruled out that there could be some more.

Among the productions, there is the short Tomorrow, directed by Andrew Tarbet – with scenes on the Bisbal and Canapost roads; sequences for several spots for the Renault Captur – in Bisbal and Ullastret–; a documentary for the Italian RAI3 - in Peratallada and Monells -, and another for TVE about crafts in Corçà and Fonteta. Also an episode of the competition between restaurateurs of TV3 Card game, in restaurants and outside of Bisbal, Monells and Forallac. But the filming with the most projection was the feature film Petra, a film by Jaime Rosales that will be released this year, with Bárbara Lennie and Àlex Brendemühl and locations in a farmhouse in Fitor, a hotel in La Bisbal d'Empordà and the cemetery of Sant Sadurní de l'Heura.

The positive direct economic impact on the municipalities of the eleven filmings is estimated at around 40,000 euros directly accounted for in hotels, restaurants and businesses in the area, apart from the indirect benefits. It also includes the hiring of extras, 40 in the case of Petra, a production that alone already cost 30,000 euros.
