Success of Fira Origen Forallac

23/09/2025

On Sunday, September 21, the town of Fonteta hosted the first edition of the Fira Origen Forallac, a day dedicated to promoting local products and the producers of Forallac and the Empordanet area.

Fonteta became the stage for this first fair, an event created with the aim of highlighting local food products and giving visibility to producers from the municipality and its surroundings.

Although the morning began with cloudy skies and occasional showers, attendance was high and steady from the start. In the afternoon, with heavier and continuous rain, the organizers moved most of the activities to the Fonteta community center, thus ensuring the smooth running of the program. In total, 11 activities had been scheduled, and only one had to be cancelled. The others went ahead with an average of 30 participants per activity, a clear sign of the public’s interest and positive response.

The fair, open to everyone, offered a wide variety of activities linked to the territory and gastronomy: local product exhibitions, guided tastings, family workshops, live cooking shows, and music. The goal was to create a meeting point for producers, restaurateurs, visitors, and food lovers in a rural and authentic setting such as Fonteta.

Highlights

The program included a live cooking show by chef Vicenç Fajardo (Restaurant Saó), a wine tasting with local producers such as Celler Lopez Schlecht, Celler Mas Patiràs, and Viticultors Muixach, family activities with Emporarom, Recuits Fonteta, La Mimosa, Mel Entre Torrent i Pals, and Abricoc, as well as a talk by cook and gastronomic communicator Iolanda Bustos. The day concluded with a gin and tonic tasting led by GIN NUT.

Participating producers

The event featured Celler Lopez Schlecht, Celler Mas Patiràs, Viticultors Muixach, Gin Nut, Recuits Fonteta, La Mimosa, Emporarom, Mel Entre Pals i Torrent, and Escabetxart.

A local initiative

The Fira Origen Forallac was organized by the Forallac Town Council and Nexes, Forallac’s business incubator, with the support of Visit Empordanet – under the Origen Empordanet brand – and Som Gastronomia, and with the collaboration of several local producers.

The event was also intended as a tribute to all those who, from the rural world, are committed to quality, sustainability, and ties to the land.
