Two Producers from Origen Empordanet Recognized at the Catalan Artisan Cheese Competition

21/03/2025

In the latest edition of the Catalan Artisan Cheese Competition, two producers from Origen Empordanet have received prestigious awards in the "Fresh Cheese/Mató" category. The winners are Pauet, who earned the silver medal, and Granja Mas Casas, which took home the bronze medal. This success not only celebrates the exceptional quality of their products but also the hard work and passion they put into producing local artisan cheeses.

Pauet:

Làctics Pauet is a family-owned business led by Pau. They specialize in the production of recuit, cheeses, and other dairy products, using milk from their own herd. This milk, without any intermediaries, goes directly from the herd to the cheesemaking facility, where it is transformed into high-quality dairy products.

Làctics Pauet’s products are seasonal, as they are produced in accordance with the animals’ life cycles. This process may result in certain times of the year when not all products are available or when production is limited.

Granja Mas Casas:

Granja Mas Casas from Cruïlles is a family-run farm, committed to the landscape of Empordà and healthy eating. They take care of a flock of sheep, applying principles of regenerative agriculture and holistic management, for the direct sale of products and services related to sheep. They market dairy products (milk, yogurt, recuit, cheeses), lamb meat, wool, and natural cosmetics made from sheep’s milk. In addition, they offer farm visits and rural experiences throughout the year.

Congratulations!

These recognitions are not only a success for Pauet and Granja Mas Casas but also for the producers of Origen Empordanet and their region, which continues to solidify agro-food products as a fundamental part of its identity. The awards highlight the region's gastronomic richness and the passionate people who work to transform exceptional ingredients into authentic gastronomic treasures.

Congratulations to both producers for their hard work and for so brilliantly representing the flavors and tradition of Empordanet in this competition!
